This is the real treatment journey of a patient with small cell lung cancer (SCLC).
Following early diagnosis, the patient underwent planned chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy, which initially brought the disease under control. However, several months later, new symptoms emerged — headaches and memory decline. Further investigations revealed that the cancer had metastasized to the brain.
Brain metastases are very common in SCLC and are often considered one of the greatest challenges in treatment. This time, however, the medical team responded quickly by initiating 5th-generation Helical Knife (Gamma Knife) stereotactic brain radiotherapy.
Key treatment advantages:
✅ Non-invasive — no craniotomy required
✅ Protects normal brain function regions
✅ Highly precise, minimal side effects, rapid recovery
After multiple treatment sessions, the brain metastases were successfully cleared, with significant symptom improvement. Follow-up assessments confirmed disease stability, improved physical strength, and a gradual return to normal life.
This case reminds us:
Even when metastases occur during treatment, there is no reason to give up. With modern precision radiotherapy, new opportunities for recovery are possible.
